China Weather

China is a vast country in East Asia and has a varied terrain including desert, mountains, river valleys and gorges, and plateaus. The climate is influenced by location and altitude, but the main climate experienced over the country is continental. Winters are cold enough for snow, and summers are usually hot and have more precipitation in the form of rain. The best weather for visiting China is found in the spring and autumn when China weather is mild and mostly sunny.

Precipitation Norms

The annual rainfall averages between 600 and 1,200 mm, and most of the country has its rainy season in the summer. In regions with higher altitudes, the majority of the precipitation comes in the form of snow. The higher elevations have more snowstorms in the winter months than in the summertime.

Seasonal Temperature Norms

Springtime comes in March or April with warmer days and sunshine, coming later in the more northerly areas. Summer happens between June and September with daytime highs from 21 to 32 degrees Celsius. When autumn arrives, it lingers from September through November and days are mild. Then, winter brings in the chill from December through March with temperature lows between -12 and 7 degrees Celsius.

Northern Southern Climate

The far north of China has Arctic weather in the winters, but the summers warm to above 30 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the far south of the country experiences mild winters and extremely hot summers.
