Cheap Macau Accommodation & Hotels

Until 1999, Macau was a Portuguese territory, but today is belongs to China, and is separated from Hong Kong by a mere hour long ferry ride. It is the world’s most densely populated country, and is a unique blend of modern Western influence, Portuguese history, and Chinese culture. Within Asia, Macau is known as a gambling hotspot, and brings in even more revenue than famed Las Vegas. Macau also has a deep and rich colonial history, and attracts many visitors who want to learn more and explore the landmarks. As a bustling city, there are countless Macau accommodation choices for travellers, with many hotels being built constantly to meet the increasing demand.

While there are innumerable budget hotels in Macau, proceed with caution as many can be thinly disguised brothels. Stick to reputable choices or recommended locations, even if it means paying a little more. Some budget hotels frequented by students and backpackers include the Augusters Lodge, the Sanva Hotel, and the Pousada de Juventude de Hac Sa.

On Cotai, where the majority of the casinos are located, plenty of luxury hotels exist. If money is no object, there are suites and magnificent rooms that cater to the incredibly wealthy gamblers. Combination casino/hotels often offer decent rates if you book you rooms together with a show, or with your ferry tickets to or from Hong Kong. Popular favorites include the Venetian Macau, the Grand Waldo Hotel, and the Grand Hyatt Macau. Each is a giant complex housing shops, venues, restaurants, and of course casinos.
